Oxnard Power Plant
Updated On: Aug 14, 2017

On February 9 2007, a hearing was held at the Oxnard Perfoming Arts center, to discuss the fate of a new power plant, proposed by NRG Energy Inc. Over 50 IBEW members, as well as many others from other building trades, were in attendance to voice their support of the proposed plant.

The proposed power plant, if constucted, would clear the way to decomission, and eventurally demolish, the two current aging plants on our local coast. The construction project could create up to 400 jobs, with the project lasting just under 2 years. If the project moves foward, it would also bring about work to demolish the 2 older plants.

A final decission is expected in May of this year. Until then, our membership, as well as friends and family in the building trades, will continue to voice support for newer, more efficient plant.
